Daniel Sliding into 2023

Daniel Sliding into 2023

Second weekend of the year.

On one fine evening as he was walking home from school, Daniel and my wife walked past the watermelon playground right infront of our house. He looked at it longingly as he knew that playground time is strictly reserved for only the weekends. So guess what did he do then? For every single day of the remaining week, he kept reminding us to bring him to play that playground come Saturday. The thing about Daniel is that, despite his young age, he has an amazing memory retention. So, there was no way we could not fulfill his wish when the time eventually came.

That Saturday afternoon was also our beloved Nyai’s birthday picnic at Palawan Green, Sentosa. There is just something about this place that is very relaxing and enjoyable. Maybe it was the artificial grass or the wide-open spaces for the kids to run around freely that makes it my favourite picnic spot (better than Marina Barrage for sure).

Nyai and Yayie with all the grandchildren.

It is truly a blessing to still have both of our parents here with us today - in good health - as they watch their children raise their own families. May Allah always bless them with longevity and an abundance of happiness in this world and the hereafter.

As the last sprinkle of daylight fades away over the horizon, our little family picnic also began to draw to a close. As a son, a father and an uncle, I hope that the children enjoyed themselves thoroughly. I hope that these memories will glue them close like a bonded family should be.

Rise and Shine, Sunday morning!

Wondering if he’s thinking about cycling into the water

So our little family adventure continues on into Sunday. We started off by bringing Daniel out for his first bike ride in the open and followed by sweaty moments at the Marine Cove playground.

This is my current favourite photo of my wife and son. Everything that I love - in one frame.

And later on in the evening, as we finished a family visit to our aunt’s house, we came across this pretty unique heartland playground with bright colours and many slides to satisfy Daniel’s yearning for an adrenaline rush.

And that’s all for this weekend! See you in the next one!
